Q. What is the difference between full age and counting age?
A. Full age counts from 0 at birth and adds 1 on each birthday. Counting age (used in some East Asian traditions) starts at 1 at birth and adds 1 on New Year's Day. This tool uses the internationally standard full age calculation.
Q. Does this tool support Japanese eras beyond Reiwa, Heisei, and Showa?
A. This tool supports Japanese eras from Taisho onward (Taisho, Showa, Heisei, Reiwa). For dates before Taisho, only the Western calendar year is displayed.
Q. What happens for people born on February 29?
A. For people born on February 29 (leap year), in non-leap years the tool uses March 1 as the birthday for calculation purposes.
