About Furusato Tax (Hometown Tax)
Furusato Nozei (Hometown Tax) is a unique Japanese tax system where residents can make donations to local governments in exchange for tax deductions and regional specialty gifts. You pay a minimum of 2,000 JPY out-of-pocket, and the rest is deducted from your taxes.
How it works

- Receive a regional specialty gift (usually worth ~30% of donation)
